Hello waters
with designer Aliki van der Kruijs (NL), artist Misa Murata (JP) and dancer Meri Otoshi (JP)
2024
in Kyoto, JP

Exploring movement as a relational practice, the score of “Hello waters” is meant to guide the participants into activating and meeting both their own body of water (inside), and the water in the landscape (the river, the rain, the mist etc). Both as individual bodies, and as a group too. It brought (non)locals  connection to the elements in and around the Kamogawa river, in Kyoto, Japan.

The score of this walk was a succession of movement guided sessions, tasting of local spring water, collective making of a matcha tea composed with riverbeds wild flora, and reading poetry.

This piece was created as part of Aliki van der Kruijs and Céline Pelcé’s research “Ukiyo, the water way”, an exploration of the floating worlds concept starting in Japan. This project was supported by Creative Industrie NL and Institut Français
